Rick Shugarman | Director

As the Director for Taylor Equities, Rick has led the management and repositioning of over 1,000 Los Angeles rent-controlled multifamily apartment homes across more than 50 properties in the past 5 years. Repositioning strategies include extensive building renovation, tenant relocation, adding density, capital improvement reimbursements, and effective property management. Dispossessed assets totaling more than $150,000,000 have averaged IRRs in excess of 35% while the current portfolio reflects a greater than 40% increase in valuation representing more than $50,000,000 of added value.

Rick’s background in management spans multiple industries, including medical supplies, entertainment, education, and real estate. He graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Mathematics and carries a Master of Education from the University of Toledo.  In his free time, Rick enjoys writing music, cooking, and international travel.
